Early Intervention Services

Early intervention provides home and community based developmental services to children, birth through 3, residing in the metropolitan area. Services are provided from one of our three locations, in Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn.

All authorized services, including service coordination, evaluations and therapy, may be provided at no cost to the parents, regardless of insurance coverage. We employ a team of highly qualified professionals to render the needed services. If the child is found eligible, they can receive appropriate services which include physical, occupational and speech therapy. Additional services include social work, nutrition, and special education. Bilingual personnel are available when needed . The services can be provided where it is best for the child and family including the home, day care or other community settings. Parents become partners in the child’s treatment plan.

If the child is diagnosed with Autism, or is on the Autism Spectrum, Applied Behaviorial Analysis (ABA) has been identified as the treatment of choice. We have specialists who will design an individualized program for the child to make certain they reach their maximum potential.

If you have concerns about your child’s development, you can call your county’s Early Intervention Program by dialing 311 for a referral. In New York, services are provided at no cost to the family of eligible children.

Personal Touch-Early Intervention Program (EIP), is an approved provider of the early intervention program & under contract with the municipality to deliver early intervention program services.  The Early Intervention Program (EIP) is a public program funded by New York State and county governments, for children under the ages of three who are either suspected of having risk for development delay and/or disability. Potentially eligible children must be referred to a county program by calling 311 to receive EIP services. All EIP services are provided at no cost to parents. Health insurance may be accessed for reimbursement for early intervention services provided to eligible children and their families.  A child’s eligibility for the program can be determined only by State approved evaluators under contract with the municipality. All needed early intervention services are identified in collaboration with the parent and must be authorized by the municipality. The municipality will arrange for service providers, considering the individual needs of the child and family, to deliver services authorized by the municipality. When early intervention services are delivered in child care settings or community locations that require a fee, the parent is responsible for paying any associated costs with such access to child care or community locations.
