Early Intervention Program
What Is An Early Intervention Program?
Early intervention provides home and community based developmental services to children, birth through 3, residing in the metropolitan area. Services are provided from one of our three locations, in Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn. In addition, we maintain a center based program in our Fresh Meadows, Queens location.
All authorized services, including service coordination, evaluations and therapy, may be provided at no cost to the parents, regardless of insurance coverage. We employ a team of highly qualified professionals to render the needed services. If the child is found eligible, they can receive appropriate services which include physical, occupational and speech therapy. Additional services include social work, nutrition, and special education. Bilingual personnel are available when needed . The services can be provided where it is best for the child and family including the home, day care or other community settings. Parents become partners in the child’s treatment plan.
If the child is diagnosed with Autism, or is on the Autism Spectrum, Applied Behaviorial Analysis (ABA) has been identified as the treatment of choice. We have specialists who will design an individualized program for the child to make certain they reach their maximum potential.
If you have concerns about your child’s development, you can call your county’s Early Intervention Program by dialing 311 for a referral. In New York, services are provided at no cost to the family of eligible children.
